Today in Island History
1853 Philadelphia's Academy of Natural Sciences announces the acquisition of the fossil skull of Bathygnathus borealis. It's an Islander -- about 285 million years old. Found by well- diggers in French River, it was once a 7-9 foot, sail-backed reptile, older even than the dinosaurs.
