Today in Island History
24 June 1866 Father George Belcourt debuts his horseless carriage at a St. Jean Baptiste Day picnic in Rustico, thus becoming the first Canadian motorist, the first to buy a car, and the first to import one. He is also the first to have a car accident when he fails to negotiate a turn and goes off the road. The machine is retired.

Membership

We welcome organizations and individuals who wish to show their support of the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation PEI Museum and Heritage Passportby becoming members.  The purchase of a membership lasts for one year, although if you wish, you may pay for multiple years at a time.

Categories of Membership

Prices include HST
  • Individual member - $40.25 per year
  • Senior / student member - $34.50 per year
  • Family membership - $57.50 per year
  • Contributing corporate member - $200 per year
  • Sustaining corporate member - $500 per year
  • Patron - $1000 per year

Membership Benefits

Individual, senior, student and family membership benefits include a membership card that gives you access to all seven sites, subscription to The Island Magazine and museum newsletter when available, 10% discount at museum giftshops and bookstores and an invitations to the annual general meeting and other events.

Contributing corporate member benefits include a membership card that gives access to all seven sites, a subscription to the Island Magazine and museum newsletter when avaiable, 10 % discount at the museum giftshops and bookstores, invitations to exhibitions, special events and the annual general meeting.

Sustaining corporate member benefits include all of the above noted benefits and your company logo placed on the back of The Island Magazine.

Patron member benefits include those listed above and either your corporate logo displayed on the back cover of the Island Magazine OR recognition as sponsor of an exhibition/special event.       

Chairitable Tax Receipts

Charitable tax receipts are issued for the donation portion of all Canadian memberships.

Membership  and Subscription Payment

Payment can be made on line by Visa, MasterCard or by  cheque payable to PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation. and mailed to 2 Kent Street, Charlottetown, PE  C1A 1M6 or, by calling 902-368-6600.

Memberships and subscriptions to The Island Magazine may also be made at any of our seven sites.  Three of our sites are open year round: Beaconsfield in Charlottetown; Acadian Museum in Miscouche and Eptek in Summerside.

At this time, subscriptions to The Island Magazine cannot be made on line.   Payments may be made at any of our museum sites or by cheque.
